Spyder is great. With all the complexity of python dev environments (virtual env managers, package managers and then the IDE), it is nice to at least be able to provide users with a well functioning self-contained IDE that just works out of the box.

While I have moved on from Spyder onto Pycharm for many years now, Spyder will always have a soft spot in my heart for being a great first IDE that brought so many great quality-of-life features and replicated and surpassed the MATLAB experience of prototyping and developing code/algorithms in an interactive manner. Also, I know ccordoba is here on HN. If you read this, know that you have immense respect from me for tirelessly maintaining Spyder for all these years (I started using it in 2009)
