The Americans had not been able to preserve the high-pressure hot oxygen from eating the preburner.
- jjoonathan 6y agoYes, the soviets had great accomplishments with the oxygen-rich cycle, but they had coking problems in the fuel-rich cycle that the US overcame -- there's a reason why it took until the Raptor for FFSC to become commonplace. I don't mind acknowledging the great soviet accomplishments, of which there are many, but the circlejerk tendency to inflate their accomplishments and shrink their shortcomings (while doing the opposite to Cold War US) is insanely strong. It makes me wonder if I'm speaking to bots!
