  Something I find that people don't appreciate about better tools is that it's not just about going faster, it's about going farther. There's a whole bunch of stuff you can do by hand. But if you do it by hand, you'll compromise your sense of satisficing. It amazes me how often the 'work harder' crowd doesn't reconcile the two. If you can quickly and reliably figure out we're spending $100k a month, you get a raise. If you can figure out why it's $100k instead of $80k, you might be up for a promotion.
