Its also possible that the current Egyptians are not quite the same people as 2000 years ago. In the last century alone Egypt went from 8 million to 80 million population. How much do we know about how related an average Egyptian is to someone from time of Pharaohs after centuries of migration and population mixing.
I watched a youtuber travel through Egypt, and it looks like a third world country. He was getting harassed for money, stopped by police and so on. Pretty much same as my female friend told me when she travelled there.
It doesn't instil much confidence its the same people, if they are able to accomplish so little with modern technology. That Could accomplish so much with such primitive technology.

- owlmirror 6y agothere are genetic studies that sample ancient populations with the current population which point strongly at a continuity of the people with only minor outwards influence
- singularity2001 6y agoin the case of Egypt this is not correct: https://www.nature.com/articles/ncomms15694 https://www.nature.com/articles/ncomms15694 Also remember that two pharaohs had red hair
- owlmirror 6y agoThese are the studies I'm talking about. And we are talking about minor influxes of outside gene flow from the Arab invasion and slave trade. But the bulk of the ancestors of modern Egyptian are ancient Egyptians.
