Tangent: why does a car going above 2 Gs feel, for lack of a better word, not scary, but a roller coaster pulling the same feel scary (in an exciting way)?

- jandrese 6y agoI've never tried it, but there are plenty of reaction videos of people doing a ludicrous start in a Tesla and the passengers showing expressions of fear and surprise. If you are the driver then being in control probably helps quite a lot. In a roller coaster you are always a passenger.
- bluGill 6y agoRoller coasters are engineered to feel like they are about to fall apart. There is a reason they creek and shake: they were built to creek and shake. They put in lots of unneeded supports that are made to shake excessively, meanwhile the actually supports are hidden so you don't notice they are doing the real work.
