Although this is clearly a fluff piece for Gov De Santis, as a software dev and someone who grew up in SV and moved to FL in 2009, I still regularly travel back to CA for work and contrast is staggering now. Forget the ridiculous housing costs, the biggest thing that gets me is the homeless tents in metro areas (SD, LA, SF) and literal shanty towns on the sides of the freeway in Burbank and SV.
My parents have since left for FL also and my brother for CO, but my extended family still in CA think the sky is falling here in FL because we have no lockdowns and open restaurants, gyms etc; only to come here for vacation and realize that its simply not the case and life proceeds as normal +masks. My wife works Covid ICU's at multiple hospitals, and while stressed, they are not at all overwhelmed.
