The height contributes to being an investment. When I was looking for an apartment in Vancouver I wasn't keen to have to use an elevator every day to get to some 20+ or 30+ floor. Thankfully ended up getting a 10th floor apartment (took a video when moving out for prospective buyers: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VNypbD3EbHE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VNypbD3EbHE)
The only reason to put up with a high floor is if don't intend to come & go very much. Nice place to stay maybe during vacation or to host a party or quarantine, but should be some of the less valuable residential space per square foot in the area if it weren't "an investment" as you say
Hopefully rather than regulate these buildings away, lessons can be taken from the issues they're experiencing to build more which'll eventually become affordable housing
