Ask HN: What was Andy Jassy's college major?
Every news source just says he has a bachelors degree from Harvard with out any specifics.
- ignoramous 6y agoAndy's a Harvard MBA, class of 1997: https://archive.is/tBpsj https://archive.is/tBpsj He joined the Marketing department at Amazon just a few months before they IPOd. In the aftermath of the dot-com bust when a lot of senior executives left Amazon, Andy was one of the few who stuck with the Company and rose through the ranks, leading their Customer Service (?) and subsequently Music businesses. He was appointed Technical Assistant to the CEO in 2001-3, after which he was handed the reigns to the flourishing "Amazon.com Web Services" group. https://archive.is/4cG2H https://archive.is/4cG2H

- quietthrow 6y agoLol why does it matter? Think about this deeply - Does the person make the college or the college make the person? Is it correlation? Is it causation? Why?
- ekm2 6y agoWhy not?Everyone who went to college studied SOMETHING.Why is Andy's designation so amorphous?
