It sounds like a brilliant idea. I remember learning my way around vim and emacs from interactive tutorials that were basically just text files. I had no idea what I was doing, but it was fun to experiment. If you implemented your game, I would definitely give it a try. More for fun than for the learning experience, but if I happen to learn something new along the way, I certainly would not complain. ;-)
