I have been aware of this site for a while. I always thought it was a parody because everything is so over the top. But a few years ago the admin got in a fight with a left wing YouTuber I watched and I learned it is apparently a real and serious project.
- Andrex 6y agoIf you have any more context for that "fight," I'd be interested in tumbling down that rabbit hole, haha.
- andrepd 6y agoSame, it's the same sort of compulsion that makes people stare at accidents.
- jaredandrews 6y agoIn staying with the theme I will provide you with the Conservapedia entry: https://conservapedia.com/Secular_Talk#Kulinski.27s_.22best_argument_for_atheism.22_video_offers_invalid_argument_for_atheism https://conservapedia.com/Secular_Talk#Kulinski.27s_.22best_... It will probably shock you to learn that both sides declared victory.
- notahacker 6y agoI think my favourite was when the founder, a completely serious son of prominent social conservative political activist Phyllis Schafly, insisted on reinstating YMCA on a list of conservative songs on the basis it was a conservative song promoting Christian outreach!
- Blikkentrekker 6y agoI gain the impression that in Anglo-Saxon media, there artificial cultural meme of “gay” has been created, ostensibly originally as a form of mockery that fronts certain stereotypes of lack of masculinity, whereas the common image created by the actual “gay” community was always one of flamboyant, excessive masculinity in the vein of The Village People and Tom of Finland. Thus, it seems that Andrew Schafly does not recognize it as such, because it does not meet his stereotypes, and I have seen him speak of what he calls “machismo” which seems to more so align with the aforementioned image created by the actual “gay community”.
- notahacker 6y agoI'm disappointed to learn Conservapedia does not have an article on Tom of Finland :D
- Blikkentrekker 6y agoIt would be hard to unify that with it's beliefs. It wouldn't surprise me if Andrew Schlafly indeed would believe that the suggestive pictures are indeed intended as promoting male fitness, as it was originally said to avoid the censor. https://i0.wp.com/www.towleroad.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/finland.jpeg?resize=758%2C574 https://i0.wp.com/www.towleroad.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/... They are but fitness buffs, socializing, respecting each other's bodies and efforts.
