The concept of a singular “white” is an American invention which ignores the fact that intra-white oppression happens all over the world. In the UK Irish people were traditionally oppressed, now Eastern European immigrants are treated poorly. In Canada there’s an ongoing power struggle between white Anglo Canada (historically, now it’s multicultural) and white Québécois. Focusing on racism defined as anything that’s good for white people makes it sound like the real problem is inequality between races and not oppression and inequality by itself. It also completely disregards racism between groups of POC which is a much bigger global problem.
