We don't need to boycott Wayland
- rvz 6y agoWell it can be simple reasons like 'Wayland' alone which put 'Linux support' (How ever they define or scope it) in the backlog forever. The only apps I can see that will be prevalent and widely used and 'supported' on Linux are electron apps since chromium 'works fine' on Wayland. At least with the phasing out of X11 that's one less component out of hundreds of hundreds of sub-components the user might have installed over the default install which we have to test for before another user complains about it. This will just make investigating issues in the whole Linux desktop sub-system stack another multi-year safari hunt. No wonder Electron is the 'supported' choice for developing desktop apps for the Linux Desktop. Ugh.
