I believe that early AMD64 was limited to 40 bit addressing, and until about 2007-2008 anything Intel-based other than Xeon MP was limited to 36 bit.

- boulos 6y ago(I’m not sure why people downvoted / flagged you, so I vouched this). I definitely don’t remember the numbers and haven’t looked them up on wikichip, but Itaniun certainly counts as “Intel-based” :).
