Years ago I turned a decommissioned server into my desktop (when 4gb was a lot of memory). Worked fine, but when I switched to a laptop as primary and turned it off I think my power bill dropped by $20-30/month.
If I'd checked the draw earlier I'd have killed it far sooner.
