The author or whoever created that headline needs to look up what "gamification" means. It's the result of a design process. Reddit and Robbinhood did not change the design of the stock market. They just participated within the rules that already existed.
If the stock market is gamified, which could easily be argued, then it has been for a long time. One could even say that it's its essence. Claiming that something new happened in that regard is pure hypocrisy by the big guys who got duped by the little guys.
- pfortuny 6y agoActually, the Bloomberg terminal is probably the greatest gamification of the Stock Market since its inception. It gives a sense of control and "live information" akin to any First-Person Shooter or even something more arcane (like Dwarf Fortress). Technical Analysis is just a way of trying to play and win, with no relation to the real world. But with a sense of control. And, of course, the huge amount of data is hooking.

- sub7 6y agoLiterally 1 big guy got fucked. There's 10s of 1000s of little guys that will get fucked when the price is back to 5. If you can halt trading whenever you want, you can't lose. Wall St big winners here.
