Part of the DisplayPort spec (that I love) is Multi-Stream Transport, which allows you to daisy chain monitors off a single connection. I need that much bandwidth if I'm going to be running, say 3x 4K monitors with a single cable. HDMI doesn't support this and has less bandwidth.
- dogma1138 6y agoWhat devices have you seen that actually support MCS? I haven’t seen a single monitor even those that come with USB-C that support it...
- ThatPlayer 6y agoI'm not sure about monitor support. I've seen some higher end Dell monitors have it. I use MST with a mini display port hub for more outputs on my laptop.
- CrazyCatDog 6y agoJust bought one that will: F32tu87 Samsung albeit via the lightening 3/usb-c interface
- DaiPlusPlus 6y agoI use MST to run my dual HP Z27Q monitors (5K 27-inch). Their only connection is a dual DP1.2 inputs - so I have four hefty cables coming off my GPU. I believe what you’re describing is a feature of Thunderbolt, not DP.
