Would this be legal in the US? It's one thing for a private entity to choose to not extend services to someone, but for the government to censor communication channels, I hope this would not be legal in the US?

Warrants, subpoenas, national security letters, and other such mechanisms are means to compel public and private entities when the law is being broken. But that’s the key requirement, that someone is acting illegally.
