SOPHIE has died
- stephen_cagle 6y agoI really enjoyed her "Product" album. The chipmunk paced frenetic energy of it was something I have not heard since. I am saddened the world lost her.
- voidhorse 6y agoDamn, sad to hear. SOPHIE was a definite visionary pushing the boundaries of electronic music. A shocking loss.

- antihero 6y agoThis is a tragedy. Hyperpop is an amazing genre and SOPHIE will be missed. Ever since I heard Hard and Lemonade I knew that there was something special going on.
- jameslk 6y agoThis will hit the PC Music scene hard. SOPHIE was one the main artists that helped put PC Music on the map. RIP
- 1986 6y agoSOPHIE was such a unique and forward looking voice, someone who straddled and joined seeming opposites effortlessly, and a well-deserved figurehead of a burgeoning scene. A talent for high fidelity sound design that could be evocative of physical objects to the point of approaching body horror, but with an ear for melody and an understanding of pop music forms that would instantly sell the listener on a chorus that would sound impossibly saccharine in any other context. Someone who worked with Madonna and Kanye West, and whose music was licensed for a McDonald's commercial, yet had a clarity of artistic vision that was underground to the end. SOPHIE will be missed.
- rcgorton 6y agoI watched most of the video attached to the article. It feels to me like a rehash of Tangerine Dream and Kitaro.
- andyjohnson0 6y agoYour comment is getting downvoted because it comes across as dismissive of her as an artist. Immediately after someone dies, even someone you don't know, it's best to either be kind or be quiet.
- bodhiandphysics 6y agoIt’s also like totally not true!
- heavenlyblue 6y ago> Immediately after someone dies, even someone you don't know, it's best to either be kind or be quiet. If you are in Christian America?
- andyjohnson0 6y agoGodless Europe and proud of it.
- heavenlyblue 6y agoLet’s see what good you’re going to say about Trump when he dies.
- andyjohnson0 6y ago(It's too late to edit my comment above. But if I could, I'd use their preferred pronoun rather than the gendered one I mistakenly used.)
- rcgorton 6y agoFeel free to downvote it. I expressed my honest, unbiased opinion. Until the OP, I had never heard of SOPHIE, so attempted to listen with an unbiased mindset.
- ncrmro 6y agoDude I was writing some fiction, and just had on Ponyboy :(((
- jarmitage 6y agoThe Wendy Carlos meets Prince of our generation. Goodbye SOPHIE.
- rcgorton 6y agoInteresting thought. I was just listening to some Wendy Carlos. Not sure that the rest of the audience actually understands the reference.
- gwilikers 6y agoAn incredible talent that was only getting started.
