FBI: Pipe bombs at RNC, DNC were planted night before capital riot
- buffaloo 6y agoTrump’s vitriol was so powerful it actually propagated backwards in time to incite past acts of violence, perhaps indeed ALL past acts of violence. Any claims to the contrary are without evidence.
- redis_mlc 6y ago> FBI: Pipe bombs at RNC, DNC were planted night before capital riot Yeah, but how is Pelosi going to blame Trump for that? Add this to the list of inconvenient facts that I haven't seen mentioned on HN aside from my posts: 1) Pelosi declined before the Capitol rally to pay for additional Capitol security. 2) One of the first rioters to enter the Capitol building admitted to being BLM/antifa. A jounalist who was there recognized several others as antifa. 3) It's common for politicians in both parties to call for demonstrating on the Hill. One Democrat did that years before Jan. 6.
- boublepop 6y ago1) Are you suggesting that the USA Capital building should only be safe against armed assaults on special occasions when the speaker decides they should pay extra? And that if those extra fees are not paid, then any armed assaults are fair game, should be consequence free and really is the fault of the speaker? 2) This has been debunked time and time again. It was not Antifa assaulting the capital. It was Trump supporters. Stop trying to blame this on your enemy just because your attack failed. 3) Demonstrations are a integral part of a healthy democracy. An armed assault on the capital is not a demonstration. When Trump won, there were plenty of demonstrations against him, both in the US and across the world. That is perfectly fair. The opposition however did not assault the capital in an attempt to overthrow democracy. And the fact that mainstream republicans can’t tell the difference between those two is extremely scary.
- redis_mlc 6y agoYour comment is literally nonsense: 1) Of course more security would be needed for a large rally. 2) The BLM activist is Sullivan: https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2021/01/16/sullivan-video-arrested/ https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2021/01/16/sullivan-vi... 3) But who was armed?
- aaron695 6y agoWow, so they always knew this. They released pictures before, so the bomber also knew they knew this. So they have kept this timing hidden only from the public. (Which also made it much harder on the public to identify anyone) What a political cover up. It was also strange on the released photo of the bomb, it wasn't disarmed. This is because the timer had run out. And they also fully knew straight away about if the 'powder' was explosive, strange that's also not released.
- multjoy 6y ago> What a political cover up No, it’s called ‘police work’. You don’t let the world know what you know otherwise the suspect has time to concoct a story.
- redis_mlc 6y agoIt's fair to call it a political coverup for several reasons: 1) The Hunter Biden investigation was deliberately delayed until after the election. 2) Pelosi refused to pay for extra security for the Capitol during the rally. 3) DNI delayed intelligence report until too late to act upon saying his analysts refused to submit a report. 4) FBI (Comey, etc.) known to be partisan (real deep-state.) 5) Impeachment called for with no investigation or even evidence. 6) FISA court used in Mueller investigation at Biden's request, with no supporting evidence to do so. There was nothing about the Capitol riot that wasn't political. Your stomach should churn when reading the above - there was a coup attempt, but by the DNC, not Trump, a sitting President. He just had the misfortune to rally 500,000 supporters, while Biden got maybe 10-15 at his last 2 speaking events.
- Craighead 6y agoPlease note, the other posters in this thread are violating the rules of HN, they're posting nothing about curiosity, just baseless conspiracy claims and are generally uninformed about the situation, or even making jokes. This is the internet with bad faith actors.
- retox 6y agoSo nothing Donald Trump said _on the day_ of the event mattered, as far as this bomb was concerned. Would have been instructive if this had been known earlier, but I understand why it wasn't made public sooner.
