Banding could also have been eliminated long ago by calculating gradients in higher bit depths and then dithering to 8bit. Sadly few graphics engines do this.

- viraptor 6y agoI found it surprising that if you have window space slightly smaller than this image, it will get scaled and get banding back on the dithered side, but only in Firefox. Chromium scaling doesn't have the same effect.
