M5Paper – a 4.7“ 940x540 multitouch e-ink ESP32 dev kit for $70
- ktpsns 6y agoAmazing device! I love the ESP32 (and derived boards/chips), it is a breeze to develop codes with Arduino. I'd love to hear more about the battery life of this device: > Combined with the e-ink, M5Paper can last ages on a single charge. "1 week" is an age for an Android, but "100 years" is probably an age for a human. ;-)
- c22 6y agoI bought one of these when they first dropped. I haven't messed around with it too much yet, but battery life for the stock/demo program is not good (like ~30 minutes of active use). I suspect the wifi is mostly to blame, though.
- inter_netuser 6y agohow bad is the refresh flicker? better or worse than stock kindles?
- throwaway81523 6y agoIt's nice that e-paper has suddenly gotten a lot more affordable. I wonder what the cause of that is--did important patents recently expire, or anything like that? Still, it is most interesting in larger sizes, preferably full A4 for purposes of reading ArXiv preprints and other pdfs at their intended size.
- bArray 6y agoThis is awesome! It scratched an itch that has been developing for a PDA-like device. Unfortunately it displays as out of stock [1].
