In this case, I'm sure pretty sure "far left" has nothing to do with policy, and actually translates to something like "not loyal Republican" or "not seeking to spare Republicans embarrassment." It's sort of like how RINO has come to mean "disloyal to Donald Trump," and gets applies to people who'd score 100% conservative on any ideological test.
