Hmm, I'm not sure how I feel about that comparison. Most vets double up as pharmacies, restrict access to prescriptions, and sell at least some prescription drugs at prices that have been marked up by at least an order of magnitude by the manufacturer. Some of the bills that I've run into have still managed to approach the cost of routine visits at some specialists when billed to my HSA.
