Thanks a lot for these tips, I didn't know about the separate update of the lens database. I am on Linux, yes, trying to get rid of the need to power up the MBP. Edit: I'm using Nikon D700 and the "not so good" lens algorithm was for the 16-85 lens... LR seems to take better care of it, but I'll try with the updated lens DB in Darktable.
