- alasdair_ 6y agoI lived a few miles away from him in Scotland for most of my life. He regularly attended book signings and I always thought “I’ll go next time...” There was no next time. Just a reminder - sometimes the time do do what you’ve been planning is now
- arethuza 6y agoI went to a few talks by Banks and he mentioned once that a fan went to a book signing of his and was somewhat disappointed that he seemed such a nice guy - given how dark some of his books are (e.g. The Wasp Factory). The fan even apparently discussed the matter with Bank's mother who was at the event who confirmed that Iain was "a lovely wee boy". Saw him a few times in Edinburgh - never had the nerve to say hello - really wish I had now!
