- jelliclesfarm 6y agoCozy! Bay Area hospital won't receive COVID vaccine after teachers given doses before frontliners, elderly. Teachers, per the email, were told to impersonate health care workers despite the threat of perjury — with the approval of COO Gary Purushotham — in order to obtain access to the vaccine. - uberman 6y agoCA has received the largest allotment of vaccines by a wide margin and while they have administered the largest number of doses, they remain at the bottom of the pile with respect to administering what they have been allotted (less than 45%). Some CA hospitals report 50% of their staff do not want to be vaccinated. CA has vaccinated less than 1% of its population, Israel more than 20%. We are wasting time with a failed "ethical rollout". If the objective is "herd immunity", we should spend more time and energy vaccinating the people we can rather than creating prioritization road blocks and vaccine shaming.
- jelliclesfarm 6y agoi agree. we should just give it to people who want the vaccine. it still creates sufficient immunity. outreach can happen parallel to the vaccinations. everything seems to be based on the model of scarcity economy. sometimes the scarcity is artificial when clearly the issue is about demand rather than supply.
