About hcker news: an unofficial Hacker News interface
- catchmeifyoucan 6y agoThis rocks! How do I get the last visit to show up. I tried to close and reopen
- falcolas 6y agoIf there's no new posts, it won't show up. It's also not stateful across browsers.
- gjsman-1000 6y agoHow old is this? It's still using the old Chrome, Firefox, and Safari icons from pre-2011. Though, it is a testament to HN that it still works.
- captn3m0 6y agoThe image screenshots have a last modified of Thu, 16 May 2013 00:56:13 GMT The comments in the screenshots are from 2010. https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=1531370 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=1531370. - miloignis 6y agoPretty much the only way I ever browse HN! At least with sorting by time I'm more organized about my procrastination. Big thanks to the creator(s?)!
- JohnDeHope 6y agoConcur. Hacker News without hckrnews.com would only be about half as useful.
- falcolas 6y ago100% this. It's the best way to keep up with HN without having to worry about popularity re-ordering and posts falling off the front page.
- Rochus 6y agoRight, this one and http://www.hnreplies.com/ http://www.hnreplies.com/ make HN useful.
- arunix 6y agoThat looks really useful! Both of these are closed source I guess?
- hckrnewsisgreat 6y agoBig fan of the hckrnews interface! Unsure if I could have gotten as much value out of HN without it. One UI request I have is add ‘bottom %’ values. The ‘top %’ values are great to get a quick look at whats trending but most of my favorite HN material is the niche stuff that always has low numbers but high quality. Right now I just do ‘All’ looking through each listing self filtering the big ticket items.
- myWindoonn 6y agoOne of the best parts of this interface is a modicum of oversight and moderation transparency. While it's not perfect, many flagged and killed articles are visible in hckrnews, informing us about the biases of moderators and high-karma users. This isn't enough to bring us up to par with Slashdot or Lobsters, but it helps.
- silicon2401 6y agoI've exclusively used hckrnews to browse this site for at least a year or two now, switched immediately after first reading about it. It's great and I would recommend it to anybody
- slowmovintarget 6y agoSame. It also lets me see the controversial stuff at a glance, which is often interesting, even if it is rightly flagged. I've been using it for more than five years as a first stop on my way in to HN posts.
- kyriakos 6y agoBeen using this for years this is the only way I can browse HN and not miss anything. Great work
- wsostt 6y agoI use RSS to not miss anything.
