I really missed ICQ when it started to die down with introduction of other messengers, which took over. I think mostly Skype was responsible, at least in my circles due to free audio calls... In any case, I still have my 6 digit UIN which works, despite I was told year or two ago it was deleted due to inactivity.
- robinei 6y agoIn Norway MSN Messenger was responsible. I remember all the people who were a couple of years younger than me starting with that, and ICQ never recovered.
- Pxtl 6y agoMsn messenger took over from ICQ in my social circle, then SMS, then Gchat, then Hangouts. The amount of churn in the IM space for such a simple product is so absurd. I blame Google for abandoning the principle of a standard protocol for this stuff.
