Singapore is hot and humid all year long. Locals might be used to it but in my time there, a short 10 minute walk to the station means I'm covered in sweat by the time I get there. So I can certainly see why people would prefer cars. That said I loved Singapore and I love it's awesome public transportation and its abundant taxies that were easily reservable long before Uber existed.
