Will China Keep Winning?
- PaulHoule 6y agoYes. See Legitimation crisis by Habermas. China's view is that competence leads to legitimacy. Republicans think you can buy legitimacy by sticking to extreme positions and never changing. (Never raise taxes) Democrats think they buy legitimacy by going through the empty motions. (e.g. Nancy Pelosi waited a long time to get where she is. If you wait long enough you won't get any power at all but you will get 80 years old.)

- simonblack 6y agoChina had a worrisome record on outbreaks like Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome in 2003, and though it had since invested heavily in its health care system, many of its people still lacked access to affordable, high-quality care. I would be very interested to see whether China has a larger proportion of its population who 'lack access to affordable, high-quality care' than the US which does not have a single-payer health service.
