It's not a question of generous or not generous. If the work to migrate to 3.x was too great before, this won't change that -- they will just manually install libraries without pip. Or find another tool. I suspect many python 2 shops will maintain the old and move to something else for the new. Maybe the "new" thing will be Python 3, but I expect this will give other languages opportunity, because people do have emotions, rational or not.
