I’ve switched from mason jars to Weck jars and won’t go back. It probably wouldn’t make much of a difference in this situation but if you’ve not seen them / used them you might find them interesting. It seems like it would be more than the seal since recorking a bottle still creates a decent seal (but traps all the air). Yea I had another comment agreeing with another OP downvoted. Seemed odd to me as well.
