Who Are the Biggest Political Donors?
- jamestimmins 6y agoSheldon Adelson, the largest political donor, who exclusively donated to right-wing causes, died recently. I've been surprised that there hasn't been more conversation about what that means for the GOP. For reference, he donated $218 million in the 2020 election cycle. The GOP's next biggest donor put up ~$71 million.
- jariel 6y agoSo often you get to these charts and figures and they could be bothered to explain anything. What is 'total money' vs. 'hard money' vs. 'outside money' and why don't they bother to explain it. Edit: the answer is here [1] Hard Money is direct political contributions to campaigns, registered etc. Outside is to supporting activities, other PACs [1] https://www.opensecrets.org/dark-money/basics https://www.opensecrets.org/dark-money/basics
