Ask HN: Anyone using a WireGuard VPN they’d recommend?
- Triv888 6y agoI host my own on a Rpi4... it works really well.
- moipersoin 6y agoI'm doing this with NordVPN on Linux .... Seems OK so far...
- cutthegrass2 6y agoI'm using WireGuard on an AWS Lightsail instance. Current uptime on the instance is 695 days, its not missed a beat. Cost is ~$4 per month.
- TimTheTinker 6y agoInteresting, do you ever get IP-blocked by websites — or strange errors that resolve when you turn off the VPN?
- cutthegrass2 6y agoOnly twitter and only partially. The app (iOS) works OK save for viewing individual timelines. It shows a "user does not exist" error. This resolves when I disable the VPN though. My personal feed works without issue including displaying all responses in threads. Have not seen any issues on other sites.
- torqu3e 6y agoRunning the server end on an edgerouter as well as a sub $1/month VPS and both have been smooth!
- TimTheTinker 6y agoMay I ask where the vps is hosted?
- approxim8ion 6y agoSurfshark has Wireguard on everything other than Linux as of now. It's cheap and fairly reliable in my experience. Hopefully they add Linux support soon, although it's not like their native client or OpenVPN have given me any grief on Linux.
