If the bottom of the car is going to be armoured anyhow can't we use plates there to transfer the charge? the problem there would probably be dealing with dirt

If the bottom of the car is going to be armoured anyhow can't we use plates there to transfer the charge? the problem there would probably be dealing with dirt and other contaminants.
What about doubling the voltage?
