boring & solid & works is a perfect description of tcl&tk. And I mean that in the best way imaginable.

  That may be so but I really enjoy Tcl for its playful and idiosyncratic take on things. If you want to play with uplevel and upvar, run multiple interpreters in their own threads with no GIL, define your own control flow, use event driven designs, then Tcl is the language to use.
