I live in Blackpool. On Sunday, I was walking north from North Pier, slightly below the sea wall; with the sound of the waves rolling over the vast beach (rated as "Excellent"). There was pure January light reflecting from those incredible hills of Cumbria, and I had 11 miles of immaculate footpaths ahead of me. You can find dreary anywhere, but also incredible beauty if you look; Blackpool, or Paris, or anywhere inbetween.
