BeagleV SBC Runs Linux on AI-Enabled RISC-V SoC
- jstgord 6y agoI hadn't kept up with RISC-V .. but since last time I looked things have really advanced. For example, SiFive has essentially a viable PC running linux... and their component/module approach to configuring a new ASIC is likely to really fuel the pace of innovation for smaller startups making edge and cloud devices. [ this Beagle board includes SiFives U74 core ] Another thing I find surprising is the amount of Neural hardware now being shipped in these devices to run machine learning models [ not training the model, but running the model ] It seems growth of IOT devices poses two main problems : - latency - massive data streams Hence the need for neural and fast silicon right at the 'edge', to process the stream before it goes to the server.
