Twitter has no place classifying what is right and what is wrong. I sincerely hope this trend backfires on them.
- AnimalMuppet 6y agoTwitter has three options: 1. Do not classify anything as out of bounds. After the 6th, they decided they didn't like the results of that approach. 2. Classify out-there right-wing things as out of bounds. 3. Classify out-there stuff as out of bounds, no matter who it comes from. If they aren't going to do option 1, option 3 is more reasonable than option 2. And if they're going to do option 3, the Chinese Embassy post seemed like really good grounds for locking someone's account.
- ratsmack 6y ago>Classify out-there right-wing things as out of bounds. Why not include out-there left-wing things, or are left wing things always okay?
- gnusty_gnurc 6y agoIt's because tech is systemically biased because they're majority liberal. Unconscious bias exists; therefore they don't have strong inherent motivation towards addressing "out-there" left since they don't perceive leftists as being a threat.
- TimD1 6y agoThe previous poster was saying that in response to storming the US Capitol building, Twitter can either: 1) ignore it, 2) respond to this specific instance (right wing extremism), or 3) respond to all inappropriate uses of their platform (which would include left wing extremism).

- supercanuck 6y agoThey are literally sterilizing a minority population. I think Twitter should be able to call balls and strikes on their own platform especially when it comes to government sponsored propaganda before its too late (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rohingya_genocide https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rohingya_genocide). https://apnews.com/article/269b3de1af34e17c1941a514f78d764c https://apnews.com/article/269b3de1af34e17c1941a514f78d764c
