This seems like a good strategy, I recall the medical startup from yesterday. It felt like some random person thought he could hire a bunch of contractors to address a field he doesn't know anything about.
In my mind projects should fit into,
A :I've been working in this field for five or six years, I know the market well enough where I'm ready to take a shot.
B: hobby projects
- verdverm 6y agoI was going to comment on that medical one. The domain experts I know don't delve into how the tech works from an implementation standpoint. They know the UX that is needed and they are better leaders / managers. They also devote 100% to their company. I've experienced doctors, lawyers, real estate ppl to want to run the company as a side project and have dictatorial control. YC also knows half the battle is finding the right people who can work together effectively.
