Have you tried the cmph (C Minimal Perfect Hash) library?

  Yes, this is included into my phash tool, but 1st it's extremely slow for my size of data <100.000 elems, and second, I want to avoid perfect hashes only. I want a comparison with better data structures. Like 2, 3,4 way arrays, or 2 way with additional binary search, or patricia trees, or any other. Or just a simple range search, as many unicode lookups do. I can decide with my guts, but I really want to decide that properly, case by case.
