Ask HN: Good Paper(less) document management system
I’m looking for a good, preferably open source document management system. Right now I ocr loads of PDFs that come in from my scanner up to a samba share with a custom script. Is there anything more powerful than that, perhaps with full text search, or even something fancier like cover sheets with barcodes?
- _Microft 6y agoThe German article on document management systems lists a few free and proprietary DMSs. It might offer something that fits? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Document_management_system https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Document_management_system https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dokumentenmanagement#Dokumentenmanagementsysteme https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dokumentenmanagement#Dokumente...

- yvgny 6y agoI’m using DEVONthink, it’s very powerful and pretty well thought. You can organize your documents in folders or by tags, do full text search, convert to OCR, and so on. Unfortunately it’s a proprietary (and paid) software and I haven’t found a free/open source alternative yet.
