Ask HN: Should I learn Angular in 2021?
My dilemma comes from the recent State of JS survey (https://2020.stateofjs.com/en-US/technologies/front-end-frameworks/)
- laszlojamf 6y agoThe way I think about it is the same as "should I learn Java in 2021". It's not fun, it's not cool, but there'll be work in it for the foreseeable future. If that's enough is up to you. I work at a bank and we are not gonna ditch angular this decade. Unfortunately.
- PaulHoule 6y agodidnt everybody switch to react a few years ago?
- philonoist 6y agoDid they? I should closely follow these trends from now on.
- pedrig 6y agoDepends on what you want. It surely will stay relevant for many years, and angular jobs will not go away anytime soon. If you are interested in it or you find a job that requires it, just learn it. It's not like it's gonna take a year to learn it. IMO if you are a SWE, it takes maybe a week or even less, and you will be ready for most angular jobs.
- bluefirebrand 6y agoBut be ready for them to expect 5 years of it on your resume anyways.
- philonoist 6y agoI mean, but why?! 5 years of Angular seems too much for even anyone closely following the trends, don't you think?
- bluefirebrand 6y agoNegotiating tactic. They'll hire someone with 1 year but offer much lower than the listed price because "they wanted 5 years"
- philonoist 6y agoThank you for the assurance.
