Edit: just to make it clear - there is no doubt that the US civil court system as it is is a major improvement upon the way to "change the behavior of your adversary" as people who lived through 1990s Russia and saw the alternative would confirm. A cease and desist letter is much easy to endure/survive than a steel rod or a bullet from TT :)
