Tell HN: Facebook just blocked seeing public company pages without login
- wcerfgba 6y agoI can still see some local businesses -- albeit with the full page modal popping up as I scroll. Can people post examples of pages which are no longer accessible? Maybe this is being A/B tested, or only applies under certain circumstances?
- phendrenad2 6y agoYeah same, just tried several fortune 500 companies in incognito.
- willxinc 6y agoOn mobile, I don't get a full screen modal. Just a small banner at the bottom that can be closed. This doesn't sound like something that would be A/B tested, since that requires some sort of audience to segment by (typically user id).
- swirepe 6y ago> that requires some sort of audience to segment by (typically user id). You don't have to be logged in to be tracked. Facebook Pixel is one way, via a unique 1x1 transparent image on each page. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_beacon https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_beacon
- willxinc 6y agoYes, but segmentation by that would be prone to high error rates most likely, and result in error rates too high to gather meaningful data from A/B tests like this.
