Have you tried the vscode-neovim (https://github.com/asvetliakov/vscode-neovim https://github.com/asvetliakov/vscode-neovim) extension? It uses an instance of neovim to provide the vim behaviour rather than emulating it, and I’ve found it to be more responsive than VsCodeVim.
