- tailspin2019 6y agoCare to educate those of us who are confused by this?
- colecut 6y agoCan you name anything that should have been fixed in Signal Server since April?
- sahkopoyta 6y agoCan you name anything that should have been fixed in Signal Server before April? Probably not, but this doesn't look very good https://github.com/signalapp/Signal-Server/graphs/code-frequency https://github.com/signalapp/Signal-Server/graphs/code-frequ...

- tailspin2019 6y agoThanks, wasn’t sure if you were saying that it was untrue that there were no changes or that it was not an issue that there weren’t. Even so, I’ve yet to come across a software project in my career that didn’t have a fully stocked backlog of bugs, performance optimisations, security improvements etc. In most cases if I find a project on GitHub that hasn’t been updated in 6 months, it’s usually a sign that it might be dead or languishing. Not saying that’s the case here, but the question seems valid. Also not making a value judgement. Signal is free and open source, and the guys are rockstars. But it does make me wonder if what’s running in production is a 6 month old build of that code, or is there more to it...
- Evidlo 6y agoWhat's untrue about that? There haven't been any commits to Signal-Server for almost a year. https://github.com/signalapp/Signal-Server https://github.com/signalapp/Signal-Server
- solstice 6y agoI'm not saying it's untrue. but that op is saying that something bad is happening at signal without saying what exactly they mean (hence my !!1!-ing) is what I find annoying and I would qualify that as FUD.
- bilal4hmed 6y agoIt is a bit odd that we don't know whats running on Signals server. We are just trusting them not to do wrong at the moment because they arent WhatsApp.
- bilal4hmed 6y agoOn the public repo, there have been no changes since April 2020 https://github.com/signalapp/Signal-Server https://github.com/signalapp/Signal-Server If you go here https://github.com/signalapp https://github.com/signalapp you can see there were changes 8 hours ago. So yes no public changes have been pushed, but changes are happening. It is fair to ask what changes are being pushed given their push for privacy. How much do you want to trust here?
