I think the author missed the whole point. Not everyone has access to fast internet or internet at all. SMTP was designed with that in mind, and it also works better than other real time messenger in that sense. Async federated communication.
- networkimprov 6y agoI'm referring to a time when the Internet backbone was slow and intermittent. You're describing the last-mile situation. JMAP offers a solution for intermittently connected devices (phones) which expect notifications and messages from Internet services. I expect TMTP will do the same; it's far from final.
