- eloff 6y agoIf you describe pot loving, socially liberal Joe Rogan as alt right, what term exactly do you use to describe tiki torch carrying white supremacists? Let's not get carried away here.
- zug_zug 6y agoI've listened to enough Joe Rogan to find him vaguely middle-right (overall, and somewhat inconsistent and hard to pin down). Deliberately mischaracterizing people as alt right (something he actually talks about) if anything backfires. It's an exaggeration and it reduces the credibility of criticizer. When it's systematically wrong (e.g. wrong in print) it thus goes on to undermine objectivity of the media that is so important in times like these.
- alacombe 6y agoDo you mean Bernie-bro Joe Rogan is "alt-right" ?
- tracerbulletx 6y agoCan we admit yet that our concepts of left and right, liberal and conservative in this country are horrible abstractions? Joe Rogan expresses dumb and not so dumb ideas which are scattered all over the place from what might be called left or right. He has weird pseudoscientific health opinions that are both right and leftish, aggressive ideas about masculinity he takes a lot of dumb conspiracy theorists at their word. These are enough reasons for me to not really like his takes, but he's had good interviews, he's had liberal economic ideas expressed too, I just don't think the left and right buckets are useful.
