Do you have a recommended starting point for learning how to build web apps in Go? As a language, Go seems pretty easy (although the upper case method names really bug me), but I don’t have a ton of time to pick up new stuff on my weekends, and have not yet stumbled onto a great “start here” guide.

- sebmellen 6y agoThis is the simplest "start here" guide out there: https://learnxinyminutes.com/docs/go/ https://learnxinyminutes.com/docs/go/. For more depth, check out FreeCodeCamp's course: https://youtube.com/watch?v=YS4e4q9oBaU https://youtube.com/watch?v=YS4e4q9oBaU.
- walty8 6y agoThank you! The tutorial is great.
- etxm 6y agoI can’t recommend Go with Tests enough if you do TDD. It’s fantastic. https://quii.gitbook.io/learn-go-with-tests/ https://quii.gitbook.io/learn-go-with-tests/
- eat_veggies 6y agoSeconded. "A Tour of Go" didn't really stick until I actually started writing code by following Learn Go With Tests, and then it clicked. I had to learn it because I got put on a Go project at work and needed to get comfortable with the language over a weekend -- and after doing Learn Go With Tests I was ready to hack on production code come Monday (with some supervision, hah).
- etxm 6y agoAnd it’s been kept up to date through go versions and new content has been added to it over the past year.
- scrose 6y agoIt’s not free, but I really recommend ‘Let’s Go!’ by Alex Edwards. He goes through building a web app and all the code is included, so for someone like me who learns better by tinkering with things, it was super helpful. He also blogs about some things which I still find myself referring back to. https://lets-go.alexedwards.net/ https://lets-go.alexedwards.net/
